About your instructor

Helen is a graphic designer and creative director.

A background in designing for fashion, Helen has worked with well known brands such as Whistles, Conde Nast and Miss Selfridge.

She founded Mum-Folk, an online graphic design and branding resource for small brands, in order to build a space where creative entrepreneurial mums can learn the design skills they need to set up their own business and pursue their passions while working flexibly around their families.

She runs a design studio offering branding services as well as workshops and courses teaching busy working mums how to design effectively for their business.

FAQ’s

+ How long does the course last and when does it start?

The course starts on the 10th June 2019 and runs for 4 weeks of live module teaching with two weeks at the end to allow you time to implement your learnings will still gaining support from myself and the group.

+ Do I have to have branding in place?

No you don't. This course is designed to teach how to apply your branding elements (such as logos, colour palette etc) as well as how to find your style even without branding in place.

+ I don’t have a business set up yet, can I still benefit from the course?

You can definitely still benefit as you will be learning strategy and creative skills to bring content to life. However it will be more beneficial if you at least know the type of content you will be wanting to post so that you gain the most out of the course.

+ Do I have to be a mother to get involved?

Absolutely not, however the group might be predominantly mums in business and female therefore as long as you are okay with this, the group programe is open to all. I've designed this course with busy working mums in mind mainly becuase I understand the frustration of trying to juggle business and family life therefore have focused on time effective solutions - however this isn't limited to mothers! I think everyone would like faster solutions and more time right?

+ How will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered in 4 modules over 4 weeks (with 2 weeks of practice and support at the end). The modules will be sent as videos & worksheets at the beginning of the week, along with a followup live Q&A a few days later to answer any questions and to help you implement the course material.

+ How long will it take per week?

This will vary depending on how much time you would like to focus on developing your style and creating content however I would advise to designate at least 4 hours a week (possibly more in the first few weeks) to allow yourself time to learn, digest the content and experiment with creative techniques.

+ I’m not the creative type, can I really learn how to design?

I passionately believe that anyone can learn how to design! Everyone is creative in some way, it's about gaining confidence through a little guidance. This course is designed to help you do this, so no prior design knowledge is needed.

+ My business isn’t fashion or lifestyle can I still join?

You certainly can, however just to note that all of the examples I share in the course will focus on branding for fashion and lifestyle businesses and blogs. But there is no reason why you can't extend these examples to a different industry if you would like to do this.
